Project ROOTS is a federally funded research initiative designed to support literacy through tutoring sessions. As a participant, you’ll gain valuable experience while contributing to an active research study.

This pre-screening form is designed to collect basic applicant information, confirm eligibility, review relevant qualifications, and gather availability and application materials. The information you provide will help determine whether you meet the initial requirements for the position.

What is Project ROOTS?

Project Rural Opportunities through Literacy, Observation, Tutoring and STEM (ROOTS) is a $15 million Expansion grant from the Education Innovation and Research (EIR) Program, U.S. Department of Education. Texas A&M University faculty will work with University of Southern Mississippi faculty to impact literacy in rural schools in Texas and Mississippi. The overarching goal of the project is to expand evidence-based science of reading strategies and literacy-infused STEM/science (LIS), undergirded by high-impact tutoring for students and professional development for teachers and tutors to impact outcomes in reading/literacy and science. The project will work with grades 3-5.
