Project Highlights

Enhance your teaching and empower English language learners in the classroom through professional development.

Thanks to an Office of English and Language Acquisition professional development and research grant, Project Empowering Teachers of English Learners (ETELL) is helping prepare and certify Texas in-service teachers for the bilingual education or ESL classroom. All teachers in the project will receive free bilingual or ESL online certification prep courses, with professional development and reimbursement opportunities for exam fees.

The project will investigate the effectiveness of virtual observations and instructional coaching and mentoring.

  • Equips teachers for working with ELs in the ESL classroom.
  • Prepares teachers for the TExES English as a Second Language Supplemental (#154).
  • Provides six weeks of TExES prep.
  • Format includes video lectures, discussion board posts in English and assessments.
  • All course materials are provided.
  • The course is 100% online.
  • There will be an exam reimbursement upon successful completion.
  • 60 hours of professional development are provided.

 

  • Equips teachers for working with ELs in the bilingual education classroom.
  • Prepares teachers for the TExES Bilingual Education Supplemental (#164).
  • Provides six weeks of TExES prep.
  • Format includes video lectures, discussion board posts in English and assessments.
  • All course materials are provided.
  • The course is 100% online.
  • There will be an exam reimbursement upon successful completion.
  • 60 hours of professional development are provided.

 

  • Equips teachers for working with ELs in the bilingual education classroom.
  • Prepares teachers for the TExES Bilingual Target Language Proficiency Text (BTLPT 190).
  • Provides six weeks of TExES prep.
  • Format includes video lectures, reading, writing, listening and speaking practice in Spanish and assessments with feedback.
  • All course materials are provided.
  • The course is 100% online.
  • There will be an exam reimbursement upon successful completion.
  • 60 hours of professional development are provided.

*An intermediate level of Spanish proficiency is required.
